On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Beast, das ist Platydracus stercorarius. Der trapezförmige Kopf unterscheidet ihn von den ähnlichen Staphylinus-Arten. In Mittel- und Nordeuropa, bis zum Kaukasus verbreitet. Räuberisch, oft an Dung. Ein typisches Siedlungstier, das in Gärten anzutreffen ist und sich z.B. von Insektenlarven ernährt. LG, Christoph

Request: Hallo,
diese etwa 5-7 mm lange Blattkäferlarve habe ich am 24. Mai 2017 fotografiert beim Lochfraß an Später Traubenkirsche (Prunus serotina). Ich wollte sie durchzüchten, um zu sehen, wie die Imagines aussehen - das hat leider nicht geklappt. Könnte es sich um Gonioctena quinquepunctata handeln?

Comment: Hallo Frank, bis zur Gattung Gonioctena geh ich bei diesem Lärvchen noch mit, aber bei der Art muss ich passen. LG, Christoph Hallo Frank, ich gehe noch einen Schritt weiter. Du hast wahrscheinlich Recht und das ist eine Larve von Gonioctena quinquepunctata. Das ist so ziemlich die einzige einheimische Art, die diesem fiesen Unkraut (Prunus serotina) wenigstens halbwegs Paroli bietet. Viele Grüße, Holger
