View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: in North of France, Clairmarais, the 03.08.2017, under bark at the base of a dead standing Oak tree, in a mainly deciduous forest, maybe Tasgius morsitans ?
Species, family:
Ocypus sp.
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Thomas, in this case I can just determine the genus Ocypus (sensu kerbtier.de which includes Tasgius). It might be Tasgius morsitans, but I'm not familiar with the French Tasgius fauna unfortunately. Best regards, Moritz

Request: There are some small streams near our flat and I can find dozens of this beetle on the plants of the banks. This one was found on 02.08.2017 and has been identified on Flickr as Epicauta rufidorsum. I think it should also be present in Germany. The species is about 2 cm long, maybe a bit larger.
Species, family:
Epicauta rufidorsum
Meloidae
Comment: Hi SkynetTX, confirmed as Epicauta rufidorsum. One of the two Epicauta species in Hungary, the genus is not present in Germany however. Best regards, Moritz
