|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hello. Psylliodes chrysocephalus is corect? 14.4.2017, Slovakia. Size ca 4mm. Thank you. Regards, Karol.
Species, family:
Chaetocnema chlorophana
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Karol, I don't think it is genus Psylliodes. I guess more genus Mantura, but maybe one of the others knows better than me. Best regards, Klaas Hi Karol, this is a female of Chaetocnema chlorophana, a mostly south and eastern European species. Psylliodes can be distinguished from other Halticinae by the number of antennal segments (10), whereas the other genera have 11 segments (and your specimen as well). Chaetocnema can easily distinguished from all other Alticinae by the tooth on the mid- and hindleg tibia (mid tibial tooth nicely visible on your photo). Within the genus Chaetocnema, C. chlorophana is, in central Europe, easily identified by the elongate shape which makes it look almost like a Mantura (thus Klaas' idea). Mantura have no tooth on tibiae, though, and a larger pronotum with a more conspicuous indentation at the base. Best regards, Michael

Request: This rove beetle (I think some Quedius) I found 25.11.2017. on the Avala mountain near Belgrade. Beetle was under one stone and was long 14 mm.
Species, family:
Quedius sp.
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Dendzo86, yes, it's certainly a Quedius. It is always helpful to have a good shot of the beetles head to identify those. This one should belong to the subgenus Quedius s. str.. Best regards, Moritz
