On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Hallo Kerbtier-Team, ich tippe auf Amara sp. 27.12.2013. Vielen Dank und LG, Daniel
Species, family:
Oodes gracilis
Carabidae

Request: Heverlee, Belgium, 4 Aug 2013. Near pile of dead wood, 1.3 mm. My first steps in Latridiidae land! I get to Cortinicara gibbosa, but remain uncertain. I'm looking forward to a second opinion. Thanks!
Species, family:
Cortinicara gibbosa
Latridiidae
Comment: Hi Johan, first of all, your photos are indeed breathtaking! Secondly, you're absolutely right with your determination as Cortinicara gibbosa. I showed your pictures to H.-P. Reike and he confirmed this specimen as a female of the above-mentioned species. Best regards, Christoph

Request: Hallo Kerbtier-Team, diesen Tenebrioniden fand ich in vermoderndem Kiefern-Holz. 27.12.2013. Vielen Dank und LG, Daniel
Species, family:
Nalassus cf. dermestoides
Tenebrionidae

LG, Christoph

Species, family:
Ptenidium nitidum
Ptiliidae
Comment: Dear Johan, your photos of this tiny beetle are amazing! It belongs to the genus Ptenidium of the featherwing beetle family. In my opinion it's P. nitidum, but one of the other admins should confirm this. Best regards, Lennart Looking at the scutellum I would agree. Regards, Christoph

Curculionidae
Comment: Oi Isaias, this might be a representative of subfamily Entiminae, probably from tribe Brachyderini or closely related. But I can't tell you more in this case, I'm afraid, as the Portuguese weevil fauna is somewhat out of our area of expertise. Regards, Christoph

Comment: Oi Isaias, this is a representative of the checkered beetles, Cleridae, from genus Trichodes, which is quite speciose in the southern part of Europe. Your specimen should be Trichodes octopunctatus. As always with the specimens from Portugal: With some residual uncertainty, but only a small one in this case. Regards, Christoph

Request: Hallo,
Vielen Dank.
Species, family:
Sitophilus cf. granarius
Curculionidae
Kosmopolit. Schädling an gelagertem Getreide.

LG, Christoph

Request: Funddatum: 21.12.2013, Mischwald in weichem Totholz.
Recht farbvariabel. Die rote Schenkelfärbung ist bekannt, aber selten. Paläarktis von Mitteleuropa bis Sachalin. In lichten Laubwäldern. LG, Christoph

LG, Christoph
