View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

VG, Horst
Species, family:
Aphodius foetens
Scarabaeidae
Comment: Hallo Horst, Glück gehabt, dass er auf Foto A wegfliegen will, so sieht man nämlich das rote Abdomen, was ihn zu Aphodius foetens macht. Sehr ähnlich sind A. fimetarius und A. foetidus (allesamt Untergattung Aphodius s. str.), bei denen das Abdomen jedoch schwarz und der Kopfschild leicht anders geformt ist. Sommerart, nicht so oft nachgewiesen, nett! LG, Christoph

Hallo, anderes Tier als #988 zumindest anderer Tag. Auch Sitona cf. humeralis?
Viele Grüße,

Species, family:

Curculionidae
LG, Christoph

Species, family:

Comment: Hi pepik, another difficult one: Genus Philonthus. I think P. carbonarius is among the most likely possibilities. But again here: Determining Philonthus by photo is playing with the devil. Regards, Christoph

LG, Christoph

Species, family:
Bembidion dentellum
Carabidae
Comment: Hi pepik, in my mind this is Bembidion dentellum. But Bembidion is, because of the huge number of species in this genus, hard to identify, so I leave it for the others to have a look for it and to confirm or to correct it. Best regards, Klaas

Dasytes cf. plumbeus

Comment: Hallo Gerdt, da mache' mer net viel draus.

Potentielle Verwechslungsarten sind A. ulmi und A. rufus. LG, Christoph

Request: Hallo zusammen, gefunden am 22.05.12 an meiner Hauswand. Größe geschätzte 10 mm. Ist das eindeutig Cantharis obscura?
Vielen Dank und Gruß,

Species, family:
Cantharis sp.
