On this page you can find photos submitted by users. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case at least a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.
Requests to the kerbtier.de ID team can be submitted on the request page. The answered requests are published here shortly (currently 3 hours on average) after submitting.

2014-09-12 Request: Hallo ! 16 mm .(Belgium 7830 Silly - 12/09/2014). Ocypus ? Danke und Viele Grüße.
Species, family:
Ocypus cf. melanarius
Staphylinidae
LG, Christoph

2014-08-08 Request: Hi Christoph.
Question about #18985
8.8.2014,10mm,southeastern Slovakia
Curculionidae sp.
A-dorsal view on the same bug
B-dorsal view,another bug.
Both together on the same plant.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and greet
Species, family:
Liophloeus sp.
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Mario, this looks really like Otiorhynchus ligustici. But there remains a fair amount of uncertainty. Maybe my colleagues can comment. Best regards, Christoph No, same comment as Christoph's. Best regards, klaas Well, at the first glance it looks like O. ligustici to me as well, but this species usually has a very prominent keel on the proboscis which is missing on your specimen. Other relevant characters (endings of foreleg tibiae, tooth [or no tooth] on foreleg femur) are not visible on your photos. I still cannot completely exclude that it is O. ligustici, but I am not convinced. Without other Photographs, I am afraid the matter remains unresolved. Best wishes, Michael Ok, I have thought about these again for some time, and I believe it is a species of Liophloeus, subgenus Liophloeodes. There are three species in eastern middle Europe (lentus, gibbus, liptoviensis), separable probably only by dissection of male genitalia. # 18985 appears to be the same species. Regards, Michael
