On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

diesen Maikäfer fand ich heute auf Rot-Eiche im Wald. Ist das noch Melolontha melolontha oder schon M. hippocastani? So richtig knotig ist die Spitze vom Pygium nicht...

Comment: Hallo Lucky Luke, herzlich willkommen auf kerbtier.de! das ist Oryctes nasicornis der "Nashornkäfer". Larvenentwicklung bis zu 5-jährig in Kompost- oder Sägemehlhaufen, früher in Eichenlohe. Die Art war in Mitteleuropa extrem selten, hat sich aber in den letzten 100 Jahren deutlich ausgebreitet, nachdem sie Komposthaufen für sich entdeckt hat. Danke für die Meldung. LG, Christoph
