On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

In Farbe ziemlich variabel. lg gernot

LG, Christoph

Species, family:
Poecilus versicolor
Carabidae
Comment: Hi GertVH, the perspective of your photo is not perfect, but I assume it should be Poecilus cupreus or Poecilus versicolor. But I leave your request for a second opinion. Best regards, Fabian It is Poecilus versicolor. Best regards, Klaas

Request: Liebes Kerbtier-Team,

Lg, Lukas

Request: 22.03.2015; size about 15 mm; found in a decayed plum tree stump in a village garden in Babice nad Svitavou (about 500 m a.s.l.)
Species, family:
Platynini sp.
Carabidae
Comment: Hi Mirax, the longer I look at this one there more uncertainty I feel. At first, I thought about Platynus cf. scrobiculatus. But to the best of my knowledge, this species is not recorded from the Czech Republic. I can't help, I have to stay with the tribe Platynini. Sorry & best regards, Christoph

Request: Curculionidae found 22-03-2011 14:52 in Belgium (ref 52930407)
Species, family:
Hypera cf. meles
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Gert, the habitus, including really broad pronotum, suggests Hypera meles. Again size measurement would have helped. Also, a photo taken from directly above might have improved the chance for determination. Hypera meles is rather small (less than 5 mm w/o proboscis). If the specimen was rather large, it could be something else ... Best regards, Michael

Request: Liebes Kerbtier-Team,

Request: Dorytomus nebulosus ? found 25-03-2012 15:25 in Belgium (ref 63935369)
Species, family:
Dorytomus sp.
Curculionidae
Comment: Hello Gert, I don't think this is Dorytomus nebulosus. A precise size measurement would have helped. If it was really large, D. longimanus (female) would have been an option. However, your suggestion D. nebulosus indicates that it was a really small guy ... and I have no idea. Best wishes, Michael

Request: Hallo,
Was mache ich falsch?

Species, family:
Malachius sp.
Malachiidae
VG Thomas
