On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Hallo Jürgen, bestätigt als Clanoptilus elegans. Hast Du die noch nie mit ihren Angstzipfeln gesehen? Haben auch andere Zipfelkäfer. Es handelt sich um rotorange gefärbtes Hautgewebe, das (vermutlich) als Abwehr- oder Drohgebärde ausgestülpt werden kann. Wenn man ihnen beim Fotografieren zu nahe kommt, können die Tierchen schon mal nervös werden und pusten dann ihre Blasen raus. Wenn sie sich wieder beruhigen, ziehen sie sie wieder ein. Ach ja übrigens, danach ist die Familie der Zipfelkäfer benannt :). Danke für die Meldung. Viele Grüße, Corinna
