Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Carabus sp.??? Ihr Lieben! Vor Ort meinte ich, wieder einmal ohne Brille, einen C. nemoralis zu sehen - wegen der intensiven violetten Färbung und der Grösse (geschätzte 28, eher 29 mm). Er hatte sich da in den Efeuwurzeln an irgendetwas festgebissen. Im Abgleich mit eurer Datenbank finde ich aber keinen Carabus mit einer solchen Kettenzeichnung auf den Fld..   Hallo Manfred, ganz andere Baustelle: es ist ein Schnellkäfer, Anostirus purpureus. Es gibt noch eine ähnliche Art, A. gracilicollis, die aber meist einen viel roteren Halsschild hat. Ganz sicher nur durch Betrachtung der Unterseite zu trennen (Analsternit). Viele Grüße, Michael
