Insofern also Leiopus nebulosus/linnei. LG, Christoph

Request: Grüezi, Fund auf Filipendula ulmaria in einer Nasswiese. Schweiz, Wattwil SG, 750m NN, 04.05.13. Blattkäfer Neogalerucella tenella? Danke für eine Bestätigung oder Korrektur. LG, Urs
Species, family:
Neogalerucella tenella
Chrysomelidae

LG, Christoph

Country, date (discovery):
Belgium
2013-05-05
Request: 2013-05-05 Heverlee, Belgium. I got stuck with Amara sp. (as usual). Any suggestion to get further? Many thank anyway!
Species, family:
Amara cf. similata
Carabidae
Comment: Hi Johan, very hard to determine from the images. With a considerable portion of uncertainty I would tend to Amara similata. It seems that scutellar pores are present (image B), the elytral stripes appaer to be deeper to the end of the elytrae, which, together with the overall shape and colour could point to A.similata. For further requests, I would suggest to give at least an estimation of the size. Maybe one of the other admins adds some more info. Best regards, Oliver I think Oliver has said everthing what can be said in this case. Regards, Christoph

Request: this beetle was climbing on the concrete fence in our garden.
Species, family:
Byrrhus sp.
Byrrhidae
Comment: Hi Tarrie, this is a species from the Family Byrrhidae, Genus Byrrhus. There are two species possible: Byrrhus fasciatus and Byrrhus pilula. Determination by foto is very difficult and in most cases impossible. Because of habit i tend to Byrrhus pilula, but I can't really exclude the other one - maybe Klaas can?! regards gernot

Request: 2013-05-01 Heverlee, Belgium, size ~3-4 mm. on juice of freshly cut elm tree. Thanks for any suggestion of identification
Species, family:
Anthobium sp.
Staphylinidae
Comment: Hi Johan, a representative of the rove beetles, genus Anthobium. Likely to be A. melanocephalum (3.5-4 mm). There is a similar, but smaller sister species, A. atrocephalum (2.5-3.5 mm) which can be easily confused. Regards, Christoph
