On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Szczyrk, South Poland, mixed mountain forest, 8.06.2015.
Species, family:
Platycerus caraboides
Lucanidae
Comment: Hi Inja, with genus Platycerus it is always good to tell the altitude you found it. Platycerus caraboides and P. caprea are hard ti identify, but by the altitude one cann find a way or even has got a hint, that the more rare P. caprea can be the one in the photo. In this case you had some luck it is a female in green, because caprea doe not Show this colouration. Best regards, Klaas

Request: Hallo,
