View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

LG, Christoph

Found today (22.05.2013) on sunny meadow, Bielsko-Biala (South Poland). Length: about 6mm, found on the same plant on which I met G. viridula
Species, family:

Comment:
Hi Inja, the lateral photos make it difficult. However, it might be Hypera rumicis, which would also fit your observation, that G. viridula was present on the same plant (should be consequently a sorrel, Rumex sp.). Regards, Christoph

Dear Ozgur70, as I'm not an expert for the Turkish fauna, I contacted Levent Gültekin from Atatürk University, Erzurum. He determined the species as Lixus circumcinctus Boheman, 1835. There is a scientific paper available on the internet about the natural history of this species, written by Gültekin/Korotyaev, published in Dec 2011.
