On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Fagus wood. In general it looks to me as
Xyloterus signatus (should be oak related by our local vernacular name). Opt. 2:
Xyloterus domesticus (fagus lrelated) ?
Species, family:
Xyloterus sp.
Scolytidae
Comment: Hi BubikolRamios, I agree with genus Xyloterus. Both X. domesticus and X. signatus are known to develop in Fagus and their burrows are so similar, that the species can't be distinguished this way. Best regards, Christoph

Request: Almost dead pear (bark). After entering it moves direct down or up the tree, can't be sure where.
Species, family:
cf. Agrilus sinuatus
Buprestidae
Comment: Hi BubikolRamios, these zig-zag shaped burrows in pear might stem from the jewel beetle Agrilus sinuatus, which is a known pest in pear cultivation. But there remains a fair amount of uncertainty. Best regards, Christoph
