On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: Ich habe am 30.04.2016 dieses ca 50 mm große Insekt über einen Feldweg laufen gesehen. Ich vermute daß es sich um eine Käferlarve handelt. Ich komme bei der Bestimmung aber leider nicht weiter.

Xyloterus signatus (should be oak related by our local vernacular name). Opt. 2:

Comment: Hi BubikolRamios, I agree with genus Xyloterus. Both X. domesticus and X. signatus are known to develop in Fagus and their burrows are so similar, that the species can't be distinguished this way. Best regards, Christoph
