View answered requests for beetle ID

On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Request: I know this is Cryptocephalus sp. but would like to know what species it is if it's possible to determine from photos.
Elytrae have a blue tint near bright light close to my lamp when looking sideways (at low angle). The specimen is dead. 5 mm long. 11.1.2019
Species, family:
Cryptocephalus sp.
Chrysomelidae
Comment: Hi Mihajlo, it is not possible by These photos to identify. There are three species occuring in Centraleurope, that have a green metallice color. All three are very variable in their Color and can be blue, green, pink, red and maybe also two colored. To identify those three species we would need a photos from strictly dorsal, to see the Habit of the Body. we would need a photo taken from strictly lateral to see the edge of the Pronotum to avoid any distortion. And last but not least we would need a photo taken in an way, that we can see a Depression at the Basis of the Pronotum left and right of the middle of it. We need to see if it is there or not. And after this we would have to check the Serb Fauna for any more green species occuring, because Italy has got some more than These three species. Best regards, Klaas

Species, family:
Cetonia aurata
Scarabaeidae
Habt Geduld! :) LG, Christoph
