View answered requests for beetle ID
|
On this page you can find photos submitted by users from the start in 2012 till the shutdown in 2023. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.

Comment: Oi João, another rove beetle. Probably Quedius sp., but that remains completely uncertain. Sorry, but Staphylinidae from "foreign" faunal regions are generally difficult to impossible to determine from photos. Regards, Christoph

Comment: Oi João, this is a representative of genus Stenus, but I can't determine this specimen to species level by photo. That would be even challenging in the German fauna, and even more so in the Portuguese fauna. Regards, Christoph

Vielen Dank. LG. Pia
Species, family:
Aphodius fossor
Scarabaeidae
LG, Christoph

Request: Grüezi, CH-Wattwil SG, 750m NN, 22.09.13 an den Heusiloballen. Sitona, mehr schaffe ich nicht. Danke für die Antwort. LG, Urs
Species, family:
Sitona sp.
Curculionidae

LG, Christoph

20/10/13
Species, family:
cf. Entiminae sp.

Comment: Oi João, with this specimen I really tried hard to get at least to genus level, but I have to admitt I failed. I think it is a representative of subfamily Entiminae, probably from tribe Brachyderini or closely related. What makes it worse is that the front tibiae are conspicuously toothed *sigh* still I don't get it. Sorry and best regards, Christoph

Species, family:
Otiorhynchus crataegi
Curculionidae
LG, Christoph

Comment: Hi João, that#s a member of the Coccinella-septempunctata-aggregate. Coccinella septempunctata has been devided into a small number of species which can be only identified by dissection. In Germany it seems to be no problem, but the number of species is getting bigger in the south of Europe. Best regards, klaas

Species, family:
cf. Ocypus sp.
Staphylinidae
Leider etwas abgenutzt. lg gernot
