On this page you can find photos submitted by users. If possible, the species are identified by the kerbtier.de ID team. Sometimes determination by photo only is impossible, in this case at least a hint on family and genus and potential species will be given.
Requests to the kerbtier.de ID team can be submitted on the request page. The answered requests are published here shortly (currently 3 hours on average) after submitting.

Request: Found yesterday (09.05.2013) in Bielsko-Biala (South Poland). Decidouos forest. Cantharidae I think.
Species, family:
Cantharis sp.
Cantharidae
Comment: Hi Inja, Cantharidae is correct, Genus Cantharis. I do not know the polish fauna, but in Germany there are two nearly identically Species possible: Cantharis obscura and Cantharis paradoxa. They could be determined only by genital preparation. regards gernot

Comment: As for #3538 I would put this click beetle into genus Athous. Probably not the same species though as #3538, since the shape of the pronotum differs. Regards, Oliver I agree with Athous, but the rest only God nows. Regards, Christoph ;-)

Species, family:

Comment: Hi Inja, that's a representative of the Oedemera lurida complex, consisting of O. lurida, O.virescens, O. monticola and (not in Germany, but Poland) O. subrobusta. I don't dare to give a det to species level here. O. lurida is excluded though - thickened rear femora. Regards, Christoph

Athous sp.

Comment: Hey Inja, I think to make the next step in the Athous case, you might like to get some scientific determination literature for the Polish Athous fauna and try. I think this kind of mass determination of Athous won't lead us to where we really want to go - neither you nor us. Best regards, Christoph

Request: Found yesterday (09.05.2013) in Bielsko-Biala (South Poland). Decidouos forest. Very small :)
Species, family:
Protapion fulvipes
Apionidae
Comment: Hi Inja, this is a representative of genus Protapion. There are two species that are likely, P. fulvipes and P. nigritarse. I would think it's the first one, due to the club of the antenna, which is not clearly separated from the middle articles of the antenna (in terms of width). With some uncertainty. Regards, Christoph

Request: Found yesterday (09.05.2013) in Bielsko-Biala (South Poland). Decidouos forest. I searched only dark L. tessulatus and I think that the black one, shot last time, is L. tessulatus too. I asked about it on polish forum and this fact was confirmed :)
Species, family:
Liophloeus tessulatus
Curculionidae
Comment: Hi Inja, I thought so, but it's better in this case to have the confirmation of experts for the Polish fauna. Good to let us know here! Thanks & regards, Christoph

Request: Heverlee, Belgium, 9.5.2013, estimated size:~6 mm; on common hazel, swift, and flew away before I could make closer pictures. Looks like Elodes minuta, but I remain with doubts. Thanks for help!
Species, family:
Elodes sp.
Scirtidae
Comment: Hi Johan, this is a representative of the genus Elodes, and there one of the 5 species of the so called minuta group. Unfortunately, the species in this group can be only distinguished by dissection and examination of the aedoeagus of the male. Regards, Christoph

Request: Spaziergang
Species, family:
Lamia textor
Cerambycidae
